With the New Year nearly upon us, I wanted to do something with reflecting on the past year, but I think that copying these mêmes from aurussteelsword  will suffice.

By the way, I've created a community where I will be dumping all those Japanese lyrics I've been spamming my journal with. I may also put other random stuff there, I dunno. Anyways, if you're interested in any way, do consider watching it:

01. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

I- gee, what new things have I possibly done in this past year? Well, I guess maintaining a blog, for one. And somehow connecting with people in real life through that. Err, I'm bland, I don't do much new stuff... D;

 

02. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I never make New Year's resolutions. Though I do wish I would work more consistently on writing and drawing. Also, I've been meaning to say this for a while, but aurussteelsword 's "Toisian" is just one letter away from being the name of my dad's home village in China, Toisan. Just... thought I'd put that out there... XD;;

 

03. Did someone close to you give birth?

Mmm... nope.

 

04. Did anyone close to you die?

Let's see... One of my dad's closest friends died at the beginning of the year, that was surprising. Then, the greatest loss I can remember ever feeling was when my grandma passed away. Five years taking care of her and it was Legionnaire's Disease that actually did her in. Gosh. :\

 

05. What countries did you visit?

I... don't think we actually went to China this year, so I guess I didn't go out of the country at all. Maybe Canada, I can't remember. (Pfffth.)

 

06. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Hanyuu-さま, please grant me the ability to concentrate on my projects. "OTL

 

07. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Two. One is the day we let my grandma go. Oh, the blue sky of that day... That day is a day that was drenched in both sorrow and relief. The second is the day of the August Hetalia gathering. I can't believe how something like that was the catalyst for so much more. XD;;

 

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?

I... can't see anything that I've done this year as an achievement... Maybe speaking at my grandma's funeral and helping with the creation of the handout and slideshow? I guess that could be it.

 

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?

Errrrrr, failure at being human? I need to learn how to interact better...

 

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Err, let's see... the anaphylactic shock was last year, so that doesn't count... Um, I don't think anything particularly bad has happened this year! :D

 

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I have to agree with aurussteelsword  that the pieces of my cosplay have to have been some of the best things I've bought this year. That is, had my parents buy for me. XD Either that, or the copy of Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Episode 4 Alliance of the Golden Witch that arrived yesterday~ X3

 

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

I... think I'm such a negative person that I can't think of anyone whose behavior merits celebration... D:

 

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Anyone who is close-minded and makes absolutely ridiculous arguments. (That means you, "We hate Obama" people from the Puyallup Fair. Thanks for giving us a laugh, though!)

 

14. Where did most of your money go?

Umm, food when I went out with my friends, I think. I don't buy much with my own money, since my only source of l'argent is currently red envelopes. XD

 

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Hetalia and Umineko. Higurashi, too, since there were many songs released this year as well as the release of Season 3, Rei.

 

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Happier, I guess.

ii. thinner or fatter? Slightly fatter? I am not happy about this.

iii. richer or poorer? I don't think I can actually answer this, as I don't actually have any source of income. Perhaps richer because of accumulated red envelopes? XD;;

 

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

More writing, more reading, more drawing. More creative stuff all around. I'm such a lazy ass.

 

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

I wish I had done less of doing less, if that makes sense. :/

 

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

I spent it with ma famille, as always. There was a grand feast. It was splendid. These are short sentences.

 

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?

...I don't even know. ._.

 

23. How many one-night stands?

Oh, I stood many times during the night.

 

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Higurashi, Umineko, Hetalia, the list goes on... XD;;

 

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

More like... disappointment.

 

26. What was the best book you read?

My will to read has been dying more and more as I've been journeying through high school. The best thing I read this year was Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello.

 

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I discovered G major. Wait, that wasn't the question? Oh, well, fine. I found lots of fairly obscure Higurashi music, how's that?

 

28. What did you want and get?

I wanted the Umineko visual novel. I am a very simple person.

 

29. What did you want and not get?

Peace of mind, I guess. Pffffth.

 

30. Favorite film of this year?

I don't usually watch movies. I can't think of one, actually, so this question goes unanswered.

 

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Um, my birthday is at the beginning of the year, let's see if I can remember... Oh! I went to have India food with my two oldest friends, that's right. I turned... how old am I now...? Two to the second to the second. Yeah, that's right. OH MY BEJEEZUS, I'M ALMOST- ajdflafkjl;dsfjlakja;f DO NOT WANT. D;

 

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

It would have made my year more satisfying if I could interact with people normally. Yeah, that's all.

 

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Dress pants, collared shirt with the top two buttons unbuttoned and a T-shirt underneath. Yep, directly influenced by Keiichi Maebara.

 

34. What kept you sane?

Absolutely Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. This series always brings me to my senses. My favorite series of all time, no doubt about it. Please, please, please release the second season here in the US! PLEASE! I want to own it and support the series, so why won't you do it?!

 

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

I don't pay attention to famous people. Does Souichirou Hoshi count? XD;;

 

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Perhaps the "Everything but Marriage" thing?

 

37. Who do you miss?

My grandma...

 

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Let's see... I met Alina two years ago, so that doesn't count. I met Collin a year ago (technically two... >_>;; ), so that doesn't count. I could say Margot, but choosing just one is difficult and mean. I'll just say everyone. XD;;

 

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:

I think it can be summed up if you watch all of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. XD;; I guess I will say, "No matter what difficulties arise, if you work with all your will, you can create a miracle out of the sea of zero. So long as you have even just one little sliver of hope, a better ending can be achieved."

Keiichi, Rena, Mion, Satoko, Rika: That I’m not alone Quite a sizable chunk of the song, but it sums up my year nicely, or so I would like to believe. It's from the song With "you" -Bonds-, sung by the "Hinamizawa Club." In other words, all the important characters from Higurashi. Keiichi Maebara, Rena Ryuuguu, Mion and Shion Sonozaki, Satoko and Satoshi Houjou, and Rika and Hanyuu Furude.

1. Elaborate on your default icon.

It's Keiichi Maebara from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. As can be determined, he is my favorite character of all time. The icon was made by me. I took the picture from the Higurashi Daybreak Portable fighting game for the PSP website profile, cleaned the background, and added Pikachu ears and a tail to it. Then I make myself an icon from it. XD

 

2. What's your current relationship status?

Alone. ._.

 

3. Ever have a near-death experience?

I don't believe so.

 

4. Name an obvious quality you have.

Insanity. That is a quality, right?

 

5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?

Seizensetsu, the image song for Lady Bernkastel from the Umineko no Naku Koro ni album "Rokkenjima in Love"

FFFFFF, what celebrities do I even know? Errrrr, does Souichirou Hoshi count? (Why is my default answer for questions about celebrities always Souichirou Hoshi?) XD;;

8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?

I don't believe so.

I used to wear a watch, but the thing fucked up, so now I don't wear one.

I fear it like any normal person, though there is some sort of perverse satisfaction to it, I guess... Or do you mean mental pain? Because that I abhor.

I think my mind is being taken over. For some reason, I've been in the mood to buy some more clothes lately. I feel despicable.

A Subway sandwich. XD

I don't have a credit card, so HA!

Alina, because she calls me all the time. XD

An unfinished drawing a Spain. I really should finish that. That, and the billion other things I need to finish drawing... >_>;;

A fancy looking England wallpaper that Himaruya made or something. XD
